The Washington County Young Democrats is open to all young Democrats in Washington County ages 11-36. So if you’re a middle school, high school, college, or young professional Democrat, this is the organization for you!
Young leaders are shaping the conversation locally and nationally. Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg held elected leaders, the media, and candidates accountable when it comes to gun violence in our nation’s schools. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from New York’s 14th Congressional District, changing the conversation in Congress on countless issues, including The Green New Deal. Opal Tometi worked with other strategists to found the Black Lives Matter movement, holding our elected leaders and law enforcement officials accountable in the wake of too many unarmed black people killed by the police and to combat racism.
Global warming and environmental protections, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, black rights, religious rights, human rights, healthcare rights, access to affordable public education and training to secure jobs, an economy that promotes job growth, living wages to bring people out of poverty, and government assistance to ensure that no one is left behind or suffering. These are all issues at the forefront, issues that young leaders are speaking out about to ensure that the world they inherit is a world that will include them.
Your voice matters. Your activism matters. The Washington County Young Democrats needs activists, leaders, students, and young professionals who will work to change the conversation in Washington County, to push the Washington County Democratic Party on issues, and help Democratic candidates get elected. Not to forget all while having fun!
